Hot Topic at TRBG is Tropical Veggies!!

On Saturday, November 21, 2009 over 100 people gathered at Tropical Ranch Botanical Gardens for a lecture on Tropical Vegetables and "How to" instructions on the best way to grow them. Martin County Master Gardener and author, Paula Smith, held our audience's attention for over an hour with a half hour question period following the lecture. Smith has been growing tropical vegetables for over 20 years and has a vast background of experiences to share regarding big rewards and big failures - what not to attempt to grow in South Florida.

Seminole pumpkins and winged bean plants were the most fascinating for the audience and at the end of the lecture, many packets of beans and seeds were raffled off to the eager group.

We were visited by Wae and Kathy Nelson, from Florida Gardening Magazine, and Wae had his own little bunch of groupies asking questions after the lecture. Needless to say, a good time was had by all.
