Port St. Lucie Girl Scout Troop 1221

Visits TRBG on Saturday, October 13, 2007

Talk about enthusiasm, the young ladies of Troop 1221 exuded tons of it as they meandered through the Gardens talking to chickens and Milkster, the resident heifer, looking for butterflies and anything interesting they could find. Having already been to a Butterfly Garden on a prior outing, the girls had a basic knowledge of the relationship between plants and butterflies. They asked many questions, reinforcing and confirming their knowledge, as they plan to install a butterfly garden at Holy Family Church in Port St. Lucie.

Welcome to the Garden Troop 1221!

Diane Rexroad explains larval plants to interested listeners.

Jim Haines explains how this large pot escaped 3 hurricanes.

Shay Lynn and Jassenia proudly display the merit badges on thier vests.

Before the tour, the Troop gathered for a brief refresher course on butterflies.

One sharp-eyed scout found all of these potential butterflies.

Time out to talk to Milkster.

Shay Lynn and Kayla pose before a beautiful flower display.

Diane welcomes Troop Leader, Angelique B.

Diane & Jim love to share their garden with interested visitors.

Each of the girls was presented with a salvia to place in their new Butterfly Garden,
