Yard Doc Visits Tropical Ranch Botanical Gardens

Carol Cloud Bailey, local Scripps Columnist and "Yard Doc", visited Tropical Ranch Botanical Gardens (TRBG) on Saturday, April 18, 2009 and held her audience spellbound for a solid hour sharing her secrets for a great "Florida" lawn. Bailey reminded visitors (approximately 80 of them) how important it is to mow our lawns only when they need it, water when necessary and deeply, and suggested the best lawns for our areas. Following her instructions, lawn lovers will have no problems complying with water restrictions and will be able to maintain the kind of grass they love.

The "Yard Doc" stayed with visitors who had questions long after the lecture ended and she was aided in her presentation by Garden owner, Jim Haines, who shared his practical experience from both sides of the fence - a landscaper and garden owner with grass.

Lots of prizes, donated by local companies and TRBG, were raffled off at the end of the lecture and everyone went home happy. TRBG will again be open to the public on May 16 & 17 with a Polynesian Event featuring various decorations to turn your garden into aTiki Paradise.

Extra added attraction:  The Cinder Binn

The Cinder Binn is owned and operated by Cindy Logan and her family. They personally make each and every one of these cuties. Look for them at local craft events or check out their website: http://www.thecinderbinn.com/

It is a new website but check out all of the pages and there is more to come.
