Butterfly time once again at TRBG

Saturday, October 18 at 10:00 am was once again butterfly time at Tropical Ranch Botanical Gardens.  For the past three years we have had a butterfly expert at one of our Plant Sale and Lecture Series. For those three years you have seen Janelle Gearing and her daughter, Sarah Rocheleau, in the background providing photos and butterflies and plants to the main speakers.  Today it was Janelle and Sarah's time to shine and they did not disappoint. They inspired us all with their enthusiasm and love of this tiny, beautiful creature. Raffle winners were able to release butterflies and some lucky winners were able to take home a chrysalis to watch it develop at their homes. Needless to say, a good time was had by all.

Jim Haines introduces our guest speaker.

Janelle Gearing talks about butterfly plants.

Sarah Rocheleau shares some of her knowledge with our audience.

Gearing focuses on the best plants for butterfly gardening.

Rocheleau talks about butterflies and the best time to photograph them.

Our audience was fascinated with the many hand outs to pass around.

Plenty of time for questions and answers afterward.

Jack Braden was one of the winners of a butterfly starter kit.

Marsha Fishbane was lucky enough to not only take home a butterfly starter kit but.......

was able to release a butterfly to freedom.

Jack Davis releases his winning catch as Jim Hill of Jupiter encourages his from the cage.

There is no doubt about how thrilled Ruth Ann Decker was to release her butterfly.

Ruth Ann's butterfly immediately flew to this plant to finish drying his wings in the sun.

Cheryl Davis, Jim Haines and Marsha Fishbane share a moment in the new outdoor kitchen at TRBG.

George DeGennaro and his nephew, William, found a quiet, shady spot to relax, while......

Harriette and Jim Davis sit in the "best seat in the house"
